Barwin carried out repair works to a to a 4-storey Victorian property in the prestigious Knightsbridge area. This project was undertaken via abseil which caused minimal disruption to the dental practice and occupied residence of the building.
Scope of works included:
- Cutting out and replacing and damaged bricks on the front façade to match the original
- Installation of a new Cast in-situ concrete staircase with yorkstone cladding and hand-railing
Project: Kingswood, Warren Park

Kingswood, Warren Park is a grand country estate, comprising 14 stunning homes in generous plots. An exclusive, gated scheme, Kingswood Warren Park was built in the heart of the private and sought after Kingswood Warren estate as the ‘jewel in the crown’ and incorporates the beautifully restored original Victorian gothic mansion as the spectacular centre piece. In addition to the large private gardens, the houses have communal use and ownership of about seven acres of grounds.
Kingswood is an attractive small village surrounded by beautiful Surrey countryside. Having been developed in 2014, the Park with its stunning houses has become the prized centre piece of Kingswood Warren.
Scope of works included: Survey and restoration to residential building blocks including specialist cleaning, brick and stone restoration and concrete repairs and specialist coatings.
Project: Carlton Lodge, Belgravia, London

Barwin were appointed by Bowood Ltd on behalf of the resident’s association to undertake stone façade repairs, concrete repairs and façade redecorating of this period residential property within Belgravia conservation area. This prestigious building consists of 10 exclusive apartments. The main challenge of this project was to cause minimal disruption to the residents whilst façade decorating and restoration works were carried out.
Scope of works:
- Hammer test to all concrete to identify any loose, defective or blown areas
- Concrete repairs
- Damaged areas of stucco were cut back to a stable sound core and restored
- Stucco details were reformed by applying stucco mortar
- Decorating of all rendered areas and stucco render
- Timber care system repairs to all woodwork
- Preparation and painting of all metalwork

Project: 150 – 155 Sloane Square, London
Client: Cadogan Estates
Barwin were appointed by Chorus Group on behalf of Cadogan Estates to undertake stone and brick façade repairs and cleaning by means of the DOFF system to this period residential property in Chelsea. This prestigious building consists of 10 exclusive apartments and it is also a home to Jo Malone, Montblanc and Chloé luxury retailers. The main challenge of this project was to cause minimal disruption to the retail units below whilst façade cleaning and restoration works were carried out.
Barwin carried out replacement of Bath stone string course units to the chimney stacks and insitu repairs to existing masonry features and bands. We also replaced 4 bays of bottle balustrades. These reconstituted stone units were copied from existing elements and installed on site to complete the new look of the front façade.

Brizes Park is a 72-acre site that was previously used as a Country Retreat for Sir Winston Churchill, more recently it has been left empty.
The site has undergone a £27 million transformation, where the original buildings have been sympathetically converted into apartments and homes.

Project: Barnsbury Place, Islington, London

Barnsbury Place is an outstanding conversion of a former Edwardian school situated in the prestigious Barnsbury conservation area, into prestigious new houses. It was the best-selling development in Islington in 2010. Originally built in 1901, the buildings had fallen into disrepair and were in desperate need of attention and thoughtful refurbishment. Barwin carried out a complete sympathetic façade restoration of the three original Edwardian buildings within the established parish of Barnsbury. The intricate brickwork detailing and elegant stonemasonry has been painstakingly restored to an exceptionally high quality to reinstate character and charm.

- Terracotta, red brick and Portland stone restoration

Project: Warley Hospital, Brentwood, Essex
Warley Hospital stands on the former Brentwood Hall Estate, once home of the Kavanagh family. It has a medieval appearance, built in High Victorian Gothic style using red and black bricks. A competition was held among ten selected architects for the design of the hospital; it was won by Kendall and Pope Architects of Brunswick Square, London who supplied an entry in Tudor Style. Construction took two years and the magnificent psychiatric hospital building opened in 1853.
The hospital has now been redeveloped and converted into luxury apartments.

Project: Beverly House, St John’s Wood, London

Beverly House is a residential block of flats, built in 1980s, located on Park Road opposite the Hanover Gate entrance to Regent’s Park.
Works consisted of DOFF system cleaning of the red brick façade, including sills, thresholds and any other masonry surfaces from underside of eaves to abutting ground surfaces to all elevations including under croft, internal balconies, roof areas. A fungicidal wash was applied to the areas affected by moss and algae growth, to prevent further growth appearing. All internal glazed screens, openings, airbricks, ventilators in the external walls were sealed, in order to prevent water entry into the interior of the property or into any appliances connected to the exterior wall (boilers, mechanical fans).
